Me vs. Me?—No, Me and Me. 💌

Yes, Darling—you. 🥰

Hey Gardeners! We’ve made it to November! I hope you guys are gearing up for a beautiful holiday season. I ran across a post, and it got me thinking—what if I talked about making the shift? No more competition with the old me. No more “getting rid of the past me.” What if I embraced myself in all seasons? What if I thanked God for me?

“The post that started it all.” 😂 No, in all seriousness, I ran across this, and a light bulb went off. When we talk about re-learning ourselves and unlearning past behaviors—we have to remember that the person we were during the unfavorable season(s) got us through. We might not have done everything right, but we survived, which is enough to be thankful for.

How many of us like to hear the tens of thousands of things we’ve done wrong on repeat? I can tell you right now—I would not want to participate in that. It’s hard enough being an over-thinker, but when you add human error—things get complicated.

Working through my past. Pushing through my pain.”

I am convinced many of us can relate to that sentence. The wave of nostalgia hits; it’s bright and shiny, and then BOOM! Here come the negative thoughts, attempting to re-write history and tell you that whatever it was was all your fault, and if you had just done XYZ, then life would be better.

That’s not you talking—that’s disconnection. Disconnection rears its ugly head and causes us to second guess ourselves about a situation God already brought us out of. See, when you’re in the midst of a battle or a season of disruption, we must remember—David didn’t ask for a weapon when he was fleeing after killing Goliath. David asked for mercy. David asked for mercy so he could see his situation through.

He knew he couldn’t go back. He couldn’t change what he did, he had to do that. So in that moment of distress—he did the only thing he knew how, he asked God to see him through.

That’s what I mean by changing the language—it’s never you vs you. We are divinely connected to ourselves, which makes us divinely connected to God. Why compete with God’s creation?

So, let’s all make the switch starting today. Let’s continue to re-learn ourselves through Christ, but let’s let go of the spirit of competition and embrace the spirit of connection. I love you!

Take Care,

ToriB💕🌻
